Peter is in love with local waitress Joanne (Jennifer Aniston) but is too afraid to speak to her also already in a relationship with his overcritical girlfriend Anne who he has trouble standing up to. Peter Gibbons is a frustrated and unmotivated programmer who works at Initech. Judge's 2009 film Extract is also set in an office and was intended as a companion piece to Office Space.
